To reference Ice Cube, today was a good day. Fall is officially in session and the temperature here in New Jersey has dropped from the mid-80s last week down to maybe 12 degrees today. Of course I’m exaggerating slightly, but the cool air is so comforting. I am not one for the heat and I’ve been waiting for it to get cooler outside so I can crack open the windows, hear the crickets in the background, and actually believe that it’s Halloween time. Trust me, roasting in 90 degree temperatures is not a way to celebrate the spookiest of seasons. It’s almost as if Halloween time arrived overnight here in Jersey, completely out of nowhere, like Santa Claus coming down the chimney last night. Before you start listening to this week’s episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast, let me update you on a few things.

Several weeks back, Matt broke the news that Burger King was going to start selling HALLOWEEN MOTHA’F*CKIN’ WHOPPERS! We discussed it on the podcast and ever since I’ve been waiting with extreme antici…pation. I’m a lifelong BK fan from an early age, and although they didn’t have the enticing playground and Officer Big Mac Jail Cell that scarred me for life, my Dad and I frequently got Whoppers at Burger King and those are some of the greatest, simplest memories of my childhood. Sitting there eating junk and bullshitting about toys and whatever else I thought was intellectual when I was 5 years old to my Dad who was always genuinely interested in what I was saying.

Earlier today, after several hours of editing a piece of the Halloween special, (that ultimately will only amount to about 35 seconds in the final cut) I decided to venture out to run a few errands. I’m a man of efficiency, so I decided to stop at the store that was near one of our BK’s. To my surprise, I spotted the poster in the window from about a half mile away. I can’t see that last line of a vision test, but sure as shit can see a Halloween hamburger poster from triple the distance. I’m going to leave the detailed review to Dino Drac, but I must say, the A1 steak sauce in the bun gives the entire burger an extra tang that it didn’t have. I wouldn’t say that I like it better than the original Whopper, but I would definitely eat them if they came around each year. Plus, the crown of bones is pretty friggin’ great. Thanks to Matt for bringing this to our attention!

In other news, I’ve promised to have a production blog posted, and unfortunately that hasn’t happened yet. The reason for this is because the production of the Halloween Special 2015 has sucked up every second of my personal life, hence leaving me very little time to write posts. I am going to be relaying my thoughts on this special and the process of making it very soon. It feels like I can’t write about it until it’s nearly completed because I might jinx it. That’s just superstition though.

To cap off an awesome day, grab yourself some pumpkin anything, a cold beverage, and join Matt and I for tonight’s episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast! This week we get into one of my favorite subjects: music! We count down some of our favorite Spooky Songs and try to formulate the type of playlist you would hear at a Halloween Party, but a party that only lasts about 45 minutes. We’d also like to hear your favorite Spooky Songs so tell us about them in the comments or on Twitter! Appropriately, we also premiere our cool new theme song from our friends Leopardactyl! Thanks so much to them for making it and thanks to all of you for listening!

Things are super busy here at The Sexy Armpit! It’s our favorite time of the year and we are in the midst of filming our 2015 Halloween Special as well as recording our weekly Purple Stuff Podcast. Thanks to all of you who have listened, it’s so awesome to know that you are enjoying it! Many friends have asked if we are going to continue doing the podcast after the Halloween season, and the answer is YES because it seems you are all digging it!

Last week, Matt and I announced that we wanted your questions for our next episode which is now available. It’s time for some CREEPY Q & A’s! We received so many perfect questions and had a tough time narrowing them down to fit into one show, so if you don’t hear yours, it may pop up in a future ‘cast! We had a great time with this because it allowed us to hit on all our favorite topics ranging from our early memories of Halloween to shitty candy…and of course, Horror movie franchises! Hope you enjoy it! Let us know what you think here in the comments, on Twitter, or at our Facebook page!

You can listen to The Purple Stuff Podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, and Podbean!

Also, a reminder to check out the Halloween Countdown at Dinosaur Dracula. There’s so many awesome articles and this is only the beginning! Personally, I’m looking forward to more video reviews from the elusive Madd Matt!

The Purple Stuff Podcast Episode 5: The Perfect Marathon

PerfectMarathon

Kids are headed back to school. The scent of pumpkin candles are in the air. There’s a chill in the night. The Halloween season is officially in full swing. My attention is on the big day…HALLOWEEN! Black, orange, and PURPLE are the only colors I see. Matt from Dinosaur Dracula and I have banded together to help you enhance your season this year with The Purple Stuff Podcast. If you haven’t checked out the previous episodes, we shoot the shit about all kinds of Halloween and horror stuff. It’s like a audio trick or treat bag full of goodies for you to enjoy. The newest episode that premiered earlier today has us contemplating our perfect Halloween time TV marathon. It’s inspired by the old Shocktober marathons that WPIX in New York used to show around this time of year. It left a huge mark on us and seeing as how ABC Family has put together a fairly heinous Halloween marathon this year, we assemble a creeptastic Shocktober marathon of our own! It’s a blast, so check it out in the player above or via iTunes and Stitcher.

*For a future episode we are opening up the floor to questions. Leave Matt and I any question you might have that is related to Halloween in some way. Ask us anything about horror, witches, haunted hayrides etc. Your question may be answered in a future show! Also, there’s a lot more coming this month here at The Sexy Armpit! Come back soon for the return of The Sexy Armpit Halloween Special Production Blog as well as a few other tricks up our sleeve so stay tuned!

It took forever, but it finally happened. I have officially made my return into the realm of podcasting with my friend, the pop culture prodigy, Matt from Dinosaur Dracula! In the week leading up to the actual recording of this show, we ran into a comical series of road blocks and it felt as if this show was never going to get off the ground. Trust me, you’ll never want to hear our previous failed recording attempts, in fact, you should thank us for not posting them. In the end, nothing could keep the Halloween hex from bubbling up and inspiring us to create this show.  In this first episode, we focus on the holiday that’s most near and dear to our hearts, Halloween, and other horror related topics as we usher in the best time of the year. Here’s a quick synopsis of what you’ll hear:

  • We dream up our own horror related food products and tie-ins
  • Shitty CVS Fall candles
  • Find out what crowdfunded Horror films we contributed to

Listen and let us know if you dig it and we’ll be back for more. Thanks for checking it out!

The Endless Slimer Saga

endless slimer saga

It was quite a long drive for a Class 5, but it’s cool, road trips are my thing. Unfortunately, the passengers in my car on a recent lengthy adventure didn’t include that goofy bastard, DJ Qualls and Seann William Scott, it was even better. Once again I managed to coerce one Dinosaur Dracula into co-piloting a long drive down the stormy New Jersey highways with me. It was difficult to justify a hundred mile trip, but I made a convincing argument, or so I thought: “I want to get this Slimer toy I saw.” Pretty persuasive, right? I’m underselling for comedic purposes, there was actually a lot more intrigue involved. In fact, even Phillip Spade wouldn’t have been able to figure this one out.

After the flea market, we shot down the Turnpike. A quick stop at WaWa and we were off, discussing some of Matt’s latest flea market acquisitions during the ride. The rain scared away many of the vendors, but a few of them toughed it out specifically for us to pick up some old crap. From there, I was on a mission. I needed to catch a ghost.
