Dino Drac and I are back for another Halloween minisode! These have been a lot of fun so we bring you another installment of our aural lust for Halloween. In this episode we check out Dollar General and my old decrepit K-Mart. What we bring home may not exactly be considered “treasure” to most, but it brought us some more early signs of the season. We hope you enjoy this one! You can check it out on iTunes and Stitcher and be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode! Thanks for listening and reading!

PURPLE STUFF PODCAST HALLOWEEN MINISODE 2
The Purple Stuff Podcast’s 2nd Halloween Minisode is now available! In this episode, we decided to document our trip to the dine-in movie theater. Obviously, we wanted to see something spooky and Annabelle Creation was the perfect choice. I’m a big fan of the films in The Conjuring universe, although Matt hasn’t really seen them. In this abbreviated episode we run down the details of the trailers we saw, the food we ordered, and maybe even a little bit about the movie too! We hope you enjoy this fun little installment of The Purple Stuff Podcast. You can subscribe to us on iTunes and if you want to support the show, leave us a positive review on there! Thanks for reading and listening!
SAMMI CURR, a Sexy Armpit Exclusive From The Cryptocurium
This is an ultra-limited run of 31! Pre-orders for this horror-metal masterpiece will begin on Friday, August 18th at The Cryptocurium Etsy store.
I’m extremely excited to announce The Sexy Armpit’s first exclusive collectible. This incredible sculpture of Sammi Curr from one of my favorite horror films, Trick or Treat, is a result of collaborating with my friend Jason McKittrick from The Cryptocurium. It’s quite a tag-team of New Jersey horror freaks and it’s been a long time in the making! Jason’s homemade horrors speak for themselves. His creations are sculpted and painted by hand and are versatile since they include magnets on the back as well as a d-ring if you want to hang them on the wall. With unparalleled artistry, he handcrafted a brand new vision of Rock’s Chosen Warrior! I can actually hear Fastway blasting in the background every time I look at this beaut. This is a must-own for Trick or Treat fans and horror fans in general. Do whatever you need to do to get this mega limited , crash the Etsy server if you have to. If you pre-order you’ll have it in time for Halloween. Show your support for Sammi and The Sexy Armpit by purchasing this over the top cool sculpture. Once you receive it, be sure to tag @SexyArmpit and @Cryptocurium! #NoFalseMetal
The Purple Stuff Halloween Minisode!
The Purple Stuff is ushering in the Halloween season in a very cool way. We’re obviously excited, and to celebrate the greatest season of the year, we’ll be releasing “minisodes” which are shorter episodes concentrating on aspects of the season that we haven’t delved into yet. Our first episode is available now. We tell the now legendary tale of what was to be a simple trip to find early Halloween stuff. We’ll certainly be doing these more often so be on the lookout! Check it out on iTunes, Stitcher, Podbean, and basically wherever else you can find podcasts!
A NIGHTMARE ON THE PURPLE STUFF PODCAST! EPISODE 39
A new Purple Stuff episode is available to listen to NOW! After the seriously amazing response from our Friday the 13th episode, the logical next step is to head down to the boiler room. For those hoping to hear Matt and I have a horrific run-in with Freddy Krueger, you’re in luck!
Many of our local peeps are at the Monster Mania convention in New Jersey right now. While Matt and I didn’t make it to the con this time, we’re there in spirit. We may even invade your earbuds and bluetooth speakers in your hotel rooms while you’re drinking post-con. A show covering one of our favorite horror franchises is ready for you to hear. The NMOES series is so beloved, especially by our generation, and we wanted to record a show all about these films and the ways that they stuck with us all these years.
During our little trip to Elm Street, you’ll hear us discuss everything from cool movie moments, to action figures, to drinking with the Dream Warriors themselves. We’ll even give you a ton of fodder to discover for yourself on YouTube. We had a lot of fun recording this one, as we usually do, but if you’re a Freddy fanatic, this one is for you!
*WARNING* If you listen to this one late at night…whatever you do, DON’T FALL ASLEEP! Thanks for reading and listening to us. We appreciate all of your support and you can help out the show by subscribing on iTunes and leaving positive feedback for us!
Is Freddy Krueger In The French Friday The 13th V Poster? You Decide!!
After the latest Purple Stuff Podcast caused a bit of a controversy, it’s been requested that I explain myself.
Last Friday, Matt and I posted our Friday the 13th episode. It was basically our love letter to Friday the 13th. We gushed about all of our favorite Jason Voorhees related scenes, moments, and personal anecdotes. Toward the end, I shared a story about a time that I saw Freddy staring back at me in a French Friday the 13th Part V poster. At the time, no one could see what I saw. It became a joke about me being inebriated, but I was dead serious.
I was terrible at those Magic Eye posters that I referenced in the show. Back when they were popular, I was seriously like Willam from Mallrats, I could NEVER see the picture in them. The Mallrats one-sheet even had a Magic Eye poster on it for Pete’s sake and I couldn’t fathom that. Of course, art is open to interpretation. What one person sees may not be the same as what someone else sees. Once the latest Purple Stuff was posted, I was getting a flood of angry feedback as if I was trying to sell everyone snake oil. I want to make clear, and I also stated in the show, this is just my point of view. I have no idea who even made the poster from back then so it’s just my own little vision. Then again, when we’re hanging out Matt and I sometimes see Dewbacks resting in the street outside of my condo, so go figure.
Since I was put to the task by many online friends so far, I decided to try to attempt to explain what I’m seeing. If you can’t see it, I don’t blame you, but I hope you do, cause I think it’s more fun that way!
PURPLE STUFF PODCAST EP.38: FRIDAY THE 13th!
You can also SUBSCRIBE to The Purple Stuff Podcast on iTunes, Podbean, and Stitcher!
Matt and I have a new Purple Stuff Podcast to help kick off your weekend! Many of you have a 3-day weekend so this means you have an extra day to listen to the show twice!
As you can clearly see from the picture that I made above, we’re going to be sitting around a fire at Camp Crystal Lake and discussing some of our favorite aspects of one of the greatest horror franchises of all time, Friday the 13th! We have a lot to say so this resulted in a slightly longer episode than usual.
Personally, Friday the 13th was one of the earliest horror franchises I got into. Admittedly, I probably shouldn’t have been watching them at 5 years old, but I wasn’t a bad kid, so with that came some perks. Staying up late and watching Friday the 13th marathons on channel 11 was one of my favorite things to do. Since the F13 franchise has had such a long life, it’s essentially grown up right along with me (and you too, I’m sure).
Whether you’re more of Jason Takes Manhattan mark or a Friday IV fanatic, you’re in the right place. We all have soft spots for particular installments, songs, scenes, moments, and other instances of Jason in pop culture, so we bring to the table all kinds of nonsense that we dig so much about these films. Everything from Jason without his mask on to Jason on MTV is covered.
Do you see a familiar face hidden in the poster above?
We had a lot of fun delving into what is collectively one of our favorite horror franchises. It’s even more special for me because of the film’s New Jersey roots. I can’t wait for you to hear this one and if you are in the mood to share, leave us some of your favorite moments in Friday the 13th lore in the comments below!
Thank you for reading and listening! Please share the show or tell a friend!
Purple Stuff Podcast Episode 12: Guilty Pleasures AND The Nerd Lunch Halloween Special
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO EPISODE 12!
Are you prepared for a Podcast double header? I’m cramming two shows into one post this time around. It’s been quite a busy Halloween season for me so I am a bit behind on posting. With the big day rapidly approaching, I’m trying to savor every last detail of the remainder of October. It’s like making sure you get the last drip of Birch Beer out of that cold frosty mug. Ahh, see, now you want a Birch Beer, don’t you? Me too. Not sure why, but it sounds like a good accompaniment to these perfect Autumn nights.
First up, the latest Purple Stuff Podcast is available and it’s all about our Halloween and Horror guilty pleasures. Matt and I had a blast with this one and it may be one of my favorite episodes yet. I’m sure you can relate to loving some pretty bad movies and having an affinity for other weird stuff like obscure TV specials and melted plastic popcorn decorations, so you will definitely be on board with this episode! Check it out this week before our Halloween show hits and if you can, please leave us positive feedback on iTunes! That would be awesome.
In addition to the PSP, check out the latest edition of The Nerd Lunch Podcast which is available TODAY! I had been guest on the Nerd Lunch Halloween show previously, and then last year, Matt and I were both invited to be guests. Pax and Jeeg asked us back again this year and it’s becoming a cool little Halloween tradition. It was a fun time as we talked about two Rankin Bass specials, Jack O’ Lantern and Mad Monster Party. We may not make any new friends after this one, but I felt we told it like it is. Thanks to the Nerd Lunch crew for having us back on!
You have plenty of audio entertainment to listen to as we usher in Halloween and we hope you enjoy it. Make sure you get your costumes ready and make a pile of your favorite horror films because we are coming down to the wire. I can feel the excitement already! Halloween is upon us!
NJ-Set Velvet Rope Horror Anthology Gets Trailer Treatment
Is it possible? A horror anthology comic set in a New Jersey movie theater? That requires a really obnoxious fugetaboutit! Words cannot express how close to my heart the mere thought of that comic is. Old movie theaters, The Garden State, and sexy fishnet stocking-clad movie usherettes comprise Velvet Rope and there’s no way I can go wrong with it.
Since it was a based in New Jersey, I’ve owned Mark Poulton’s (Savage Hawkman, Avengelyne) Horror Anthology from Arcana Comics, Velvet Rope since it was released, but now is a perfect time to spotlight it because our fellow NJ’er, Poulton, and the Underbelly crew have created actual movie pitch trailers for the book to show the Arcana bigwigs the potential of making it into a feature film!
The anthology’s frame tale features a phantom movie theater, a possibly demonic (and hot) theater usherette, and an unsuspecting dude who’s just trying to get his horror movie marathon on. Oh, and adding to the pot, it’s freaking Halloween night, 2008!
Out of the roughly 10 stories contained within the book, there were a few that should definitely be included if a film ever gets made. First is Poulton’s own story, Baker’s Dozen, a deliciously sick yarn about beef jerky that takes place just outside Atlantic City and recalled classic late night Tales From the Crypt episodes.
