Have you been feeling blue? Well, have I got just the thing for you! It’s been a while since we’ve done a color theme on The Purple Stuff Podcast, so we picked out a bunch of blue things that we wanted to talk about. Obviously there’s millions of things that are blue so we had to go with the most random choices while others were trademark “Matt” or “Jay” type of picks. We’re covering stuff from all over pop culture such as Fang from Power Rangers and Rubik the Amazing Cube. We had fun recording this one, I hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to listen here or on your favorite podcast app. If you have a podcast app that we aren’t on, please let us know!
When I need something, I just go on my Amazon app and order it. Obviously, that wasn’t always an option. The mall was the #1 place to go if you needed something, wanted to hang out with friends, or wanted to grab a quick meal. It was such a part of life that we would basically live at the mall all day on the weekends. The mall wasn’t just a place to buy stuff, but also to keep updated on what’s out, what’s trending, who’s holding hands with who, etc. Sounds a lot like a brick and mortar Twitter doesn’t it? In a way, it really was.
I was lucky, I grew up sandwiched in between 2 of the prominent New Jersey malls and it afforded me the opportunity to walk to either of them on a whim. I even worked at one of them through some of high school and college. To say that these malls are ingrained in my DNA would not be hyperbole. Being that I was spoiled in terms of my proximity to these giant malls, I’m sure a mall was even more of an event in a more rural state where a mall might have been one of the few big attractions for a night out.
All this lead Dinosaur Dracula and I to whip up a show all about our memories of The Mall. We stop into stores that we loved (Sam Goody, Spencer Gifts, and Heroes World to name a few!) and even drop by the food court! It was a fun time and I know you’ll be getting some flashbacks to a time when malls were the place to be. The Purple Stuff Podcast has put on its trench coat and is ready to explore episodes of Unsolved Mysteries. Matt and I have wanted to record this episode for quite a long time and it’s finally happened! Unsolved Mysteries was a show that captured both of our imaginations when it first aired. Not every segment was mind blowing, but the truly memorable ones stuck with us. We will be discussing segments that include Ghosts, UFO’s, and Toxic Goo. It’s all here and we hope you enjoy it…hanks for reading and listening!

As a kid, my thoughts on the future were fully built by Movies, cartoons, toys, and clothing trends. Obviously, The Jetsons still get referenced as a popular view of the future. In many ways we are advanced, but we’re still not zooming around in flying cars or eating dinner pellets. On the new episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast, Dinosaur Dracula and I bring a pretty rag-tag group of things that were futuristic to us when we were kids. It was quite a fun exploration of stuff, including The Terminator, the Laser Tag phenomenon, Hypercolor clothing, and a rad Rick Springfield music video. As always, there were still so many selections that we didn’t have a chance to present. As you listen to this episode on your podcast app on your phone or your fancy computer, think about the technology we have compared to where pop culture expected us to be at by this time! I hope you enjoy the episode and thanks for listening!

It’s astounding how quickly this year has flew by. That’s both good and bad because who wants this crappy year to drag on any longer than it has to, but at the same time, where the hell does time go? We’re already approaching 2021 and that blows my mind. For now though, it’s time for our annual Yuletide celebration on The Purple Stuff Podcast! Hopefully, a moose mug of egg nog and this episode will help you travel to that marshmallow world where all the BS of life vanishes for an hour.
We have arrived at our 6th installment of our annual Christmas Songs show! These are some of the most fun episodes for us and we hope you enjoy this one as much as you have in the past. Both Matt from DinoDrac and I love having Christmas songs on during the holidays and we compile songs that we think should have the spotlight each year. In our new installment, we’ve got quite an array of tunes including The Power Rangers and Kurt Russell! You read that correctly 🙂 There’s also a couple of tracks I highly doubt you will be hearing anyone else talk about this season so stay tuned for those as well.
Enjoy the episode and let us know what you think. A huge thank you goes out to you if you are reading this and always listening to the podcast, it’s so very much appreciated. On a personal note, I truly appreciate you supporting Sludge Central as well, i.e the occassional videos, the less frequent posts, the Sammi Curr swag and other product releases here and there. It’s beyond awesome of you! I wish you Happy Holidays and a kickass new year that is exponentially better than the current one!
The 7th edition of SPOOKY SONGS is coming at you on The Purple Stuff Podcast! It’s hard to believe that we’ve come this far, but Dinosaur Dracula and I love doing the Spooky Songs show. It’s one of our most fun episodes. In light of a really odd year, it’s nice to just cozy up into your Halloween 6 blanket with some pumpkin coffee and chill out while listening to some tunes. We’ve got 10 tracks for you that smack with spooky vibes. We’re getting into some rare territory which is very cool! Expect the unexpected here, but we’ve got you covered. You’ll here us talk about songs from horror movies, late night TV show intros, and GHOSTBUSTERS! It’s a damn good time and I’m happy we’ve arrived at it. We hope you dig this one and as always, your support is appreciated! I hope you are enjoying your Halloween season!

The Purple Stuff Podcast recently turned 5 years old. What’s even more preposterous is that we’ve never done a show on VAMPIRES! Well, here it is folks. More than likely it won’t include the obvious selections that you’d think might get brought up. In this episode Dinosaur Dracula and I have gathered up quite a fiendish list for you. With the Halloween season kicking off, we’re here to help create that spooky atmosphere. You can hear us delve into Draculas and various vampires from all over pop culture, no limits here. This time around we’ve got animation, animatronics, and advertising. It’s all here for you to sink your teeth into! You can listen here or your favorite podcast app. As always, thank you so much for listening and reading. If you’d like to support the show, we are on Patreon where we present a monthly bonus show!
Soda was kind of a sacred thing in my house growing up. It was literally put on a pedestal, not a shrine, but high atop the fridge, way out of my reach at the time. If I was a good kid I was able to have it sparingly. That may sound nuts by todays standards, but back then it was pretty normal. I had friends who were only allowed to drink milk and water! Some kids I went to school with weren’t even allowed Hi-C because it had too much sugar. The struggle was real. Not too long after, soda became way more of a nightly thing for me. I adored it. I didn’t overdo it either. I knew that if we had a newly opened 2 or 3-liter bottle in the house I didn’t want to run out of that too quickly. This explains my appreciation for this fine bubbly beverage. It also happens to be our topic on the latest Purple Stuff Podcast!
In this new episode, Matt and I discuss SODA. It’s a vast theme but we’ve managed to come up with some sodas that naturally aren’t the norm. Some of these choices are selections we’d like to see come back, ones we obsessed over, and some that totally stand out in the crowded soda aisle in the grocery store. We even do a taste test of a couple of our picks which was a lot of fun. From cans that resemble Indiana Jones treasure to possible the greatest tasting soda ever, this ep is a must listen. Whether you drink soda or not, I think you’ll enjoy it! Listen wherever you get your podcasts! Leave us a positive review if you can! Thank you for your support as always! On the new episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast, Matt and I swam the treacherous depths of the scariest parts of the worlds oceans to net you 8 SEA MONSTERS. Obvious choices like JAWS are out of the question, of course. You know us by now. While some of our choices may not be actual “monsters,” they still belong on our list and you can listen to the episode to see if you agree! We’ve got everything from Octo-human hybrids to the Trench warriors from Aquaman to the Sando Monster from The Phantom Menace. Think of it as a sea monster sampler platter, only much less appetizing than one you’d order at Red Lobster in the early ’90s! We had a lot of fun recording this episode, but before you listen, make sure you have your wetsuit and engage your underwater breathing apparatus before diving in with us! Thanks for checking it out. The latest episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast has arrived! In this show Dino Drac and I talk about CREEPY COMMERCIALS! It’s surprising to think that something we as a society tried to avoid like the plague by either running to the kitchen for a snack or fast forwarding the breaks during a show we taped, can be so chock full of nostalgia. As much as we tried to tune out commercials we couldn’t escape them and that’s why they’re so embedded in our brains. Whether the terrifying imagery was burned into our eyes or the jingle was memorable, commercials and public service announcements deserve their own episode on The Purple Stuff Podcast. Specifically, we’re discussing ads that were either subtly horrifying for us when we were young or traditionally spooky in some way. The ads we bring up include everything from Elvira partying it up in Norman Bate’s house, Vincent Price and luxurious red velvet bound books, and a haunted forest of fruit snacks, so you can’t go wrong here! Here’s a playlist of the commercials we talk about it if you would like to listen and watch at the same time, but be careful your brain doesn’t explode!
