Matt and I have a new Purple Stuff Podcast to help kick off your weekend! Many of you have a 3-day weekend so this means you have an extra day to listen to the show twice!

As you can clearly see from the picture that I made above, we’re going to be sitting around a fire at Camp Crystal Lake and discussing some of our favorite aspects of one of the greatest horror franchises of all time, Friday the 13th! We have a lot to say so this resulted in a slightly longer episode than usual.

Personally, Friday the 13th was one of the earliest horror franchises I got into. Admittedly, I probably shouldn’t have been watching them at 5 years old, but I wasn’t a bad kid, so with that came some perks. Staying up late and watching Friday the 13th marathons on channel 11 was one of my favorite things to do. Since the F13 franchise has had such a long life, it’s essentially grown up right along with me (and you too, I’m sure).

Whether you’re more of Jason Takes Manhattan mark or a Friday IV fanatic, you’re in the right place. We all have soft spots for particular installments, songs, scenes, moments, and other instances of Jason in pop culture, so we bring to the table all kinds of nonsense that we dig so much about these films. Everything from Jason without his mask on to Jason on MTV is covered.

Do you see a familiar face hidden in the poster above?

We had a lot of fun delving into what is collectively one of our favorite horror franchises.  It’s even more special for me because of the film’s New Jersey roots. I can’t wait for you to hear this one and if you are in the mood to share, leave us some of your favorite moments in Friday the 13th lore in the comments below!

Thank you for reading and listening! Please share the show or tell a friend!

PURPLE STUFF PODCAST EP.37: SNOW DAYS!

Let us help you banish the winter blues away with a NEW episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast!

In the latest installment, Matt and I get a snow day. As kids, snow days would entail getting bundled up, playing in the snow, throwing snowballs, making snow angels, building forts and coming in freezing with wet socks. Then after all that nonsense, it was time for hot chocolate and movies or cartoons. Those were the best kinds of days. Then you’d spend the rest of the night with your fingers crossed that a call would come in that you didn’t have school the next day. Hearing that news was the ultimate victory because that meant you could stay up late and plan an unexpectedly awesome evening for yourself. The world was your oyster.

Adult snow days aren’t as fun. Shoveling, risking car accidents, and having to work from home are just some of the pitfalls of an adult snow day. But it doesn’t have to go down like that!

Join us for the Purple Stuff Episode 37 where we recall our snowy memories. It’s a wintry mix incorporating anecdotes, songs, and toys. Hope you enjoy it and if you feel like leaving some comments about your own snowy memories or favorite wintry things that would be awesome.

Thanks for reading and listening!

A VERY SAMMI CURRISTMAS!

It’s Christmas time and someone left a mystery present under my tree. If you want to know more…WATCH THE VIDEO!

Whenever I put together videos, they always seem to hit me at the absolute last minute. That’s what happened with the latest installment of The Sexy Armpit show. A total surprise Christmas gift arrived and it was imperative for me to document it with a video. There’s like a 99.7% chance that it’s about Sammi Curr, so you guessed it, it’s all about Rock’s Chosen Warrior, Sammi Curr!

It’s called, A VERY SAMMI CURRISTMAS, because you know how I love word play. In the video, Sludgey and I spotlight my Trick or Treat collection, discuss what we want for Christmas, and there’s even an interview with Art Director and friend, Tyler Ham. We had fun throwing this episode together and we hope it brings you some holiday cheer, even if it arrived at the eleventh hour. Give it a watch and let us know if you dug it by giving us a thumbs up. Thanks for stopping by The Sexy Armpit!

Also a big thanks to Tyler Ham whose exploits you can check out at TylerHam.com

We wish you a very Merry Curristmas!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Matt and I are back with a festive Purple Stuff Podcast episode for you.

Currently, I’d imagine you’re immersed in holiday shopping, getting stuck in copious amounts of traffic, and getting tanked on some kind of Christmasy concoction. As I write this, I’m super behind with my own holiday celebration. My tree is up, but it’s still not trimmed. I’ve only watched Christmas Vacation and Scrooged so far, but I have a pile of Christmas DVDs that I still want to get to before December ends. I’m also hoping my mom or Miss Sexy Armpit makes me my favorite Christmas cookies. Beyond those traditions, the one thing I never fail to keep up with is my Holiday playlist.

Since I have a long commute for work, I get to enjoy the giant Holiday playlist that I’ve created over the years in my iPhone. Listening to these songs everyday through the end of November and all of December made it easy for me to bring some more playlist ideas to you in the latest edition of The Purple Stuff Podcast.

This is our 2nd Christmas songs podcast. If you haven’t heard our previous one, it’s episode 17 in our feed. I know some people are not big fans of Christmas music, but it’s incredibly nostalgic for the both of us and it remains a big part of our seasonal celebrations. So, in this episode, Matt and I offer up some Christmas song suggestions for you. These tracks range from traditional to obscure, but they’re all worth a few minutes of discussion. Whether it’s Whitney Houston or The Whirling Dervishes, we’re delivering an hour of audio cheer.

If you’re not already subscribed, it would be awesome if you did! If you like listening to us, one of the easiest way to support us is to leave us a positive review on iTunes! Thanks for listening and we hope you have an awesome holiday season!

pspep35webCLICK HERE TO LISTEN!

The Purple Stuff Podcast is back with a special Thanksgiving episode!

In this installment, Matt and I express our gratitude for all kinds of random stuff. Sure, we should all be giving thanks for our families and the food we’ll be devouring on Thanksgiving, but let us not forget about things that we may not give thanks for on an everyday basis such as Capn’ Crunch and the Coming out of Their Shells Tour.

There’s a little wrestling talk, a little Christmas chatter, something for everyone. We also discuss crap that only Matt gives thanks for…like a certain bizarre beverage that he has an affinity for. You’ll hear all that and more in this cornucopia of audio nonsense. Please enjoy it before you fall asleep on the couch watching football!

Thank YOU for listening and reading! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The Purple Stuff Podcast returns with more audible Halloween goodness!

In this episode, we continue with a theme that we had fun with on a previous episode, Not Your Average Scares! These are things that might freak you out, but it’s not necessarily something blatantly or traditionally scary. This is not us stating “Michael Myers scared us a kids,” no way, these are the types of things that you may not even remember creeping you out, but at one point they did, and they may even still creep you out today.

We came up with a whole new set of these offbeat scares and you’ll probably be able to relate to a good amount of them. Included in this episode: scary drug PSAs, a whacked out music video, a creepy ass doll, and a scary Snow White book. All that and we also taste test the Garlic Doritos from Japan! Please join us and feel free to drop any of your offbeat scares in the comments!

Thank you for listening and sharing the podcast, it’s very much appreciated!

Purple Stuff Podcast Episode 31: 1988!

On the new Purple Stuff Podcast, Matt and I go back to 1988!

In our latest installment of our ongoing series of “year flashbacks,” we’ve determine that ’88 is a totally underrated year!

In 1988 I was completely enthralled by Miss Elizabeth’s diversion in the main event at Summerslam, I was obsessed with License to Drive, and going to the comic book store every weekend. On top of all that, at my house we were always blasting Bon Jovi’s New Jersey album (obvs) and Poison’s Open Up and Say…Ahh! You might think ’88 is easily overlooked, but as we point out in this Purple Stuff episode, it’s a surprisingly fun year filled with so much awesome nostalgia that you may have forgotten about.

There’s something for everyone in this week’s episode. Topics include movies like Elvira Mistress of the Dark and Scrooged as well as old cereal, a certain coveted lunch snack, and a couple of lines of action figures. It’s another fun episode not to be missed!

Do you have any specific things that stick out in your mind from 1988? Let us know in the comments!

As always, thank you for listening to the show and if you haven’t subscribed yet, please do so! Look for us wherever you listen to your podcasts. Purple Stuff Podcast Episode 29: 1990!

IMG_4798CLICK HERE TO LISTEN!

Fresh off of our insane journey for Ecto Cooler, we’re going back in time again on The Purple Stuff Podcast!

Episode 29 has Matt and I talking about all of our favorite stuff that happened in 1990. Sometimes, as we do the year themed shows, it winds up being either really difficult to come up with a decent list, or super easy. In this case, 1990 was pretty much a breeze, and I can honestly say that we had a lot fun with this episode as we do with most of them.

Join us as we roll through some of the notable movies, TV shows, music videos, and commercials from 26 years ago. It’s got everything from elaborate paper replicas of wooden ships from Super Mario 3 all the way to shaving zig-zags into my head to be like Vanilla Ice. This is one for the books, I’m tellin’ ya!

Thanks to everyone who has listened to the podcast and supported the show. Without everyone enjoying it and interacting with us about it on social media, there’s no point in doing it, so thank you all! As of right now, the best thing you could do to support the show is subscribe on iTunes and leave us a positive review, that would be awesome. In the mean time, enjoy our latest episode at the link above or on iTunes, Stitcher, Podbean, and now the Google Play Store!

Purple Stuff Podcast Episode 27: TV THEME SONGS!

SUBSCRIBE ON iTUNES!

To arrive at their optimum relaxation zone, some people listen to the soothing sprinkle of a rainstorm or the natural sounds of a tropical rain-forest. But, for my ears, there’s something about TV theme songs that I find strangely comforting. Maybe it’s little details like the “sha-la-la-la” at the end of the Family Ties theme or the hum at the end of the Diff’rent Strokes intro that make me have that extra fondness for them. If you consider yourself the same kind of wacko, then you’re reading the right website! This week, the Purple Stuff Podcast brings you a show entirely dedicated to a select bunch of TV theme songs.

To say that my iTunes is quite a hodgepodge of various types of music is an understatement. If you listened to one of my playlists while driving around with me, you’d likely hear one of hundreds of TV theme songs. Chances are, you’d know the lyrics to the majority of them. That’s what makes it fun. You don’t even need to be an avid viewer of a show to have the theme song stuck in your head, which makes the genre that much more incredible. This is one of the reasons why I felt so compelled to convince Matt that we should do a whole show about some of the TV themes that stand out most to us.

After an arm bar into an Irish whip, followed up by a flying forearm, Matt agreed that it was a good idea. I’m kidding of course, but it did take a little bit of convincing since it is so difficult to do a show like this and not be accused of leaving all the important themes out. Everyone has their favorites, but these are just a handful that we felt compelled to talk about. Some of your favorites are ours too, but we’d need 8 episodes to touch on ALL the good ones.

Personally, I think some of the best TV theme songs are the ones that work on different levels. Some TV themes are great for what they are and work splendidly as a theme for a show, yet other TV themes soar beyond that. There are TV themes that are so catchy that you wonder how the hell they haven’t been deemed required curriculum in music classes in schools. Others are so versatile that they could be covered by metal and punk bands. Most of all, the best TV themes are the ones that pop into your brain the minute you hear someone mention the name of the show that it’s from.

I demand equality for TV theme songs. Even though a show’s theme usually undergoes subtle changes between seasons, a TV theme has the power to bring to mind the full reel of scenes in the opening credits. I loved when the opening credits of a show were so ridiculous. You can sit there and pick out the episode that each scene was from. The theme will also make you reminisce and sing along. Some themes are cheerful or quirky while others are arena-ready and triumphant. In all cases, there’s a lot to discuss so check out The Purple Stuff Podcast Episode 27 and share some of your favorite theme songs in the comments!
